Sky Channel relies on Optus for their satellite communications. As a result of the recent launch by Optus of the C1 satellite, it is necessary for Sky to re-point all their customers satellite dishes to the new orbital location of the B3 satellite used by Sky.

PicNet has been contracted to help manage the logistics of organising contractors to re-point the satellite dishes at each customer site. As Sky Channel has thousands of client sites all over Australia this is a complex operation.

New software systems will be developed to produce and manage batches of work orders for the contractors. New smart cards will be installed at each site and will require remote authorisation. To reduce the load on Sky Channels customer service team, the Subscriber Management System and communications software will be upgraded to reduce the authorisation time and facilitate high volume work order tracking.

Consultation on work-flow and procedures will be provided to ensure a successful operation in the short time frame provided.
