PRACTICAL IT STRATEGY AND DELIVERY

When you need

An independent review

You need an honest assessment of your IT and a roadmap for the next few years.

A project delivered

You have work that needs a project manager who can run it through to completion.

Requirements defined

You know the problem but cannot yet document what a new system needs to do.

The right vendor

You want help choosing a vendor from someone who is not selling you the product.

Process automation

You want to replace slow, error-prone manual processes with automated ones.

Business continuity

You have no disaster recovery or continuity plan and need one.

INDEPENDENT, SENIOR AND VENDOR-NEUTRAL

Advice from engineers, not salespeople

Advice from engineers, not salespeople
We are engineers first

Every director at PicNet is an engineer. When we review your IT, the advice comes from people who have built and run these systems for decades. Guido Tapia has worked in software architecture for more than 30 years. David Booth has run cloud and IT services for more than 20, and is a certified PRINCE2 practitioner and Scrum Master.

Independent by design

We are not tied to any one vendor's stack, so we can recommend what suits your business rather than what suits a reseller. We interview your management and IT team, map how things work now, and give you a clear plan you can act on, with us or without us.

A senior team

PicNet is a team of ten, half of them senior engineers, several with more than fifteen years at the firm. You deal with the same experienced people from the first review through to delivery.

FROM FIRST REVIEW TO FINAL HANDOVER

How we run a project

Discovery

We learn how you work

01

We interview your management and IT team and map your current systems, so we understand the business before recommending anything.

The plan

We hand you a blueprint

02

You get a clear roadmap with options and indicative costs, written in language your whole leadership team can read.

Governance

We set up the controls

03

We agree a schedule and a Gantt chart, maintain a risk register, and build a RACI matrix on larger projects.

Delivery

We run it your way

04

We match your governance, whether that is Agile with daily standups and a Kanban board, or Waterfall with weekly progress reports.

Handover

We leave you self-sufficient

05

We document the work and transfer knowledge to your team, so you are never locked in to us.

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE THAT MATTER

WORK THAT PROVES IT

Some of our Case Studies

Transport for NSW case study

SCALING A GOVERNMENT TECHNOLOGY TEAM

When an agency's projects scale faster than it can hire and grow technical leadership, delivery slows down. Transport for NSW needed senior people who could work inside their own teams and governance to keep major programs moving.

A leadership and resourcing gap

Transport for NSW was running multiple large infrastructure, engineering and technology projects at once. It could not scale its technical leadership and specialist resources fast enough to keep pace with the work.

Senior people, embedded in their team

PicNet seconded a senior business analyst and project manager into the Transport for NSW Digital Technology team for around two years, alongside a database administrator on an 18-month placement. Our people worked inside the agency's own Jira and Confluence governance on state-wide technology initiatives.

NSW Health case study

THE IMPORTANCE OF IT HEALTH

The use of information systems for the healthcare industry is important to improve the quality of patient care, increase productivity, lower medical costs, boost patient satisfaction, and create a better working environment for healthcare providers.

A Great Responsibility

NSW Health is primarily responsible for the public health systems in NSW, and many of the challenges they face are unique and require custom solutions. These include improving productivity, reducing health care costs, and enhancing patient care.

Our project managers and business analysts led the Clinician Billing Portal and the Emergency Access View, working across multiple hospital sites to turn clinical workflows into working systems.

WHEN INSTITUTIONS NEED TO MODERNISE

Institutions are the cornerstones of our society and shape our culture. They are often slow to adapt and adjust to the changing tide of technology however. This can lead to inefficient and costly problems in a fast paced advancing world.

A 5 Year Blueprint

PicNet (in 2020) performed a detailed IT review including Management practices, Governance, IT infrastructure, Applications, Analytics and Social Media. PicNet’s review resulted in a blueprint/digital transformation program for the next 5 years, making the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia's operations one of the most efficient in the industry.
